Before doing a logo the first thing you do is the competitive set where you look at other logos and collect images that will inspire you. I use Pinterest as it is a good way to get all your images in one spot and it comes up with more unique images than just a plain old goolge images search. Here are some of the other logos in this field.
These seem to all have the following in common:
– Use of blue
– Reference to a kind of sea creature – dolphin or fish
– Either thin or bulky but simple writing
– Use of organic shape e.g. the cirlcle
– Depicting a wave
While it is goog to go with some of these elements you want to distinguish your logo from others so my idea is to have the same writing style and the use of the circle but instead use the shell below instead of the cliché dolphin. My research proved that these urchin shells are the most at risk and in need of restoration and protection from the destructions made by man.
This I think is really interesting and by sampling some of the colours of the shells I have found rich browns and luminous purples, a perfect alternative to the typical use of blue.
